Saw New Moon last night and it definitely lives up to the hype—Twihards are going to love it. My only complaint is that it was a bit too long. Highlights included: the crowed cheering when Taylor Lautner took off his shirt and revealed his heavily publicized 6 pack; the special FX; and the battle scene with Rachelle Lefevre (Victoria). Theatres are going to be INSANE tomorrow! —Alexandra Breen

What happens when you get Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz, and Jackson Rathbone in the same room? Well, a lot of laughs. But as the actors who play Rosalie, Emmett, and Jasper Cullen in the upcoming Twilight Saga: New Moon revealed to flare.com, there’s one thing they take very seriously: their roles as the big screen’s hottest vampires. —L.L.
FLARE: Jackson, the new movie opens up with your big scene and it’s very intense. How did you prepare for that kind of intensity right off the top?
Jackson: I was lucky to be coming off another film where I was doing a lot of kung fu training and fight training, so I was kind of in the mood to keep fighting. And it was a lot of fun to figure out the choreography with the stunt coordinators and everyone. You know, emotionally I was holding back everything in Twilight and in New Moon you get to see me kind of let it go.
FLARE: Did you perform your own stunts then?
Jackson: It’s mostly me. When you actually see the guy hit the piano, that is not me, that was the stunt guy. They wouldn’t let me break the piano. I kind of wanted to, but at the same time I don’t really condone the destruction of baby grands!
FLARE: How did each of you prepare for these roles? Because you can study vampires and stuff, but these vampires are so modern and so unique…
Nikki: I’m sure I can speak for everyone when I say we’ve all seen a vampire or two throughout the years, but we couldn’t use them as an example because we’re not playing, like hidden creatures. Stephanie wrote really unconventional vampires. We co-exist with the rest of the world, so I think the biggest challenge was – with all of the hair and makeup and wardrobe that makes you feel like you stand out so much – finding a way to blend in with all of that.
FLARE: Since you were portraying a family, did you work together as a group to figure out how you wanted to portray them?
Kellan: We’re all very different. That’s what makes it fun about acting is we each bring our own attitude towards our characters, so when you’re shooting a scene you can actually react instead of rehearsing. You know, who’s going to say what you should express? It’s all very real and in the moment. This rag-tag family of vampires really works. We all come from different areas of life – different timelines, different generations, so we’ve been living together for a while but we’re all very different. Stephanie’s story is informed, though, so most of the work was already done for us.
FLARE: It would seem to an outsider that a big challenge with this too is that the books have such a cult following, and these people already have it in their minds of what they want to see. Have there been any instances where Nikki you feel like Rosalie wouldn’t do something in the movie the way she does in the book?
Nikki: I needed to try and take the opportunity to make [Rosalie] a little bit more human and compassionate because it’s boring to watch someone play one note. In the books, you know, there are 800 pages to explore where all of us came from and in the scripts, we only have so much time to execute the point. This is a love story [between Edward and Bella], so we are not the priority. We have to take it upon ourselves to make them [stand out].
FLARE: Has the fandemonium around the Twilight Saga made your jobs as actors harder or easier, do you think?
Kellan: I think makes it more enjoyable to have the fans be so hyped on what we do as actors and how we portray our roles. It’s like doing theatre; it’s like having a live audience. Our fans are just great and loving and we couldn’t be blessed to have a better group.

Twilight fans, brace yourselves. With the release of New Moon just around the corner, the hoopla is building. The New Moon talent tour kicks off on November 6. Unfortunately, no Canadian dates have been announced. But, if you happen to be in LA, we just learned that Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Skulls and Sea Wolf will be part of the tour, performing at LA’s Hollywood & Highland Mall.—Alexandra Breen

Could it be all that filming done in Vancouver for the Twilight series has gone to her wardrobe? Wardrobe rebel Kristen Stewart donned a pair of black cut-out booties by Canadian designer Jerome C. Rousseau for last night’s Teen Choice Awards. We exuberantly applaud the footwear and even love the textured spikes on her Rock & Republic ensemble, but what do you think of the top half of this look? Do we like Kristen au natural or would we like to see her post salon on the next red (or green as it were) carpet?
